We would like to announce that detailed instructor-led BlackBerry 10 Application Development training is now available from NTG. The training is available for both WebWorks and Native Development Using Cascades and is current to the latest versions of the SDK’s on both development platforms.
We have delivered this training already to many students and have received excellent feedback.
The training can be delivered in a public NTG Learning Centre, at a private client site, or even online, whichever is most preferred. The training can also be customized in length to fit a client’s particular needs.
The training is also closely linked to the new BlackBerry 10 Developer Certification program and will provide considerable assistance for people wishing to prepare to write the upcoming App Dev certification exams.

A reminder about our upcoming webinar on June 13th at 1pm EST. During this webinar NTG and Appcelerator will discuss mobile development strategies. We are particularly excited that Appcelerator’s Mike King will be joining us to share his thoughts and insight. Prior to joining Appcelerator, Mike was Research Director for Mobile at the Gartner Group. He has authored Gartner’s Magic Quadrants for MCAP (Mobile Consumer Application Platforms) and MEAP (Mobile Enterprise Application Platforms), as well as the Magic Quadrants for Wireless LAN, U.S. Wireless Carriers, and the Packaged Mobile Applications Market Scope.
NTG is pleased to announce a partnership with Appcelerator!
While the market for mobile applications is larger than ever before, developing and supporting multiple platforms can be complicated and expensive. Appcelerator is a new software company that is enabling businesses to employ Web developers to build intuitive, content-rich native applications for multiple devices using a common cross-platform code base. By using Appcelerator products, Web developers are able to:
Cut development time in half by building apps once and deploying on multiple platforms.
Drive down development costs.
Avoid vendor lock-in by using an open platform that maximizes choices.
NTG looks forward to reselling the Appcelerator platform and providing Appcelerator-related development and enablement services.

With over 3 million customers, Shaw Cable is one of the largest providers of Digital Phone, High-Speed Internet and broadband cable television in North America.
NTG recently helped Shaw Cable develop a “technical design document” that ensures best practices for implementing Flash Media Server (“FMS”). NTG was an integral part of the project by providing consulting services that included installation and configuration of FMS servers, the development and use of a testing tool for the Video on Demand application, and the creation of FMS Server custom code.
As a recognized leader in manufacturing space hardware subsystems for satellites and other spacecraft, COM DEV is committed to delivering products of exceptional quality to customers as quickly as possible. To accomplish this, the company must efficiently manage vital engineering support processes, including Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) required to manage changes to product designs and Material Number Requests (MNRs) to control parts procurement.
Using Adobe LiveCycle ES solutions, engineers can quickly and efficiently review ECNs to accelerate managing changes resulting from product line expansions, new customer demands, obsolescence, and other factors. MNRs – which previously required manually inputting data into as many as 50 SAP screens – are now filled in automatically, significantly reducing data entry time and errors while improving data integrity. After a project team member enters MNR data into a single, intelligent PDF form, the newly entered data is populated automatically in all back-end systems.
As a result, the combined savings from the more automated ECN and MNR processes are impressive. “By moving to Adobe LiveCycle ES and working closely with integration partner New Toronto Group, we hit our efficiency and service targets,” says Debbie Schuett, project manager for COM DEV.
